WFRP4 Quick Ref Sheet

A crazy sheet of quick refs (with notation pg numbers) for 4th ed. Some peeps might not like my crazy shorthand, but see how you like it haha.

The Initiative breakdown for multi attacks is a house rule thingy you can ignore if you want. Basically it's an old style effective initiative tool for creatures that have multiple (non free) attacks per round - eg tentacles. Enter the I value and number of attacks and it will split them up to show when in the I order you can attack with another tentacle.

WFRP Banker App

Welcome to Gaspard Richelieu's Bureau of Exchange!

If you want to get nerdy with coinage in the Empire, use this handy little spreadsheet app for money management. It uses some info taken from the 2nd ED Old World Armoury, and the core book.

The most useful bit might be the quick glance percentages which you could use during haggling.

4th Edition Digital Character Sheet

Here is v1 of my digital character sheet for 4th edition. Useful for playing online between friends. Does some maths for you and gives a few warnings with wounds and encumbrance. If you get an alert while trying to edit cells - stop - these contain maths that do work for you :)

Try saving out a copy on your own google drive or see if a xls download works (i HAVE NOT tested this file format with the maths etc)

Scenario - A Hand In Marriage

Here is another scenario!

This is the first scenario I have written that includes stats for both first AND second edition WFRP! Haha,  I haven't played it using 2nd edition so I can't vouch for its difficulty or whether it is any good at all ;)

There is also a zip file containing some sweet maps and handouts!

Keep in mind this is a games masters document and if you are intending to play, avoid reading it for spoilers!

The adventure and the handouts are available in the Loot section, however a couple of direct links are given below...

GM Tools

I have a few more docs available for download or viewing in the Loot section.

I have the latest versions of computerised character sheets and some GM tools like a combat sequence, player reference sheet, and a WFRP1 quick reference sheet.  They should be available in Google Docs to look at, but there are also Open Office files.

These have been developed for our online game, but are useful for most games if printed out...

WFRP1 - Play By Mail ...Sort Of

I do wish Google Wave was still around, because it would make online email/chat games of WFRP really easy.  However, I will be playing a game of WFRP soon online with a small crew using Google Hangouts.  I will post some updates about how it goes, and maybe even archives of the chat windows.

We will be using one main game window, where the narrative and main action takes place, and the players will have their own party only chat, so the GM can't peek.  The GM will also have a small window per player, to shoot them private messages, request rolls/stats/checks and even personal experiences like visions and dreams etc, without alerting the wider group.  This way the player might have to roleplay the dream or vision to their cohorts even more believably than a face to face game :)

anyway, we are using a shared Google docs folder for the game, where the GM uploads handouts as we go, and we keep the quick reference docs, and even the party character sheets as a spreadsheet!

the character sheets can be found in the LOOT section over there >>

They are littered with quick ref notes, and are also intended mainly for online play, so might not be easily printable.

There are two versions, a Google Docs version, which you can view, but will have to download your own copy as an .ods or .xls (I recommend .ods as it seems to format better).

There is also an OpenOffice version which you should be able to download however, sometimes Google is being funny about that file type.  There are also versions with a character portrait space.  You can add your avatar there, including a choice of a few faces that I will be uploading on this site for freebie use!

I will keep you posted about how it goes, and if it is worth pursuing some larger scenarios/campaigns this way ...

Question For The Know-It-Alls!

Hello woofroopers!

I have been delving into WFRP 2 again after many years, and trying to make a switch to playing with those rules, mixed with plenty of other rules and house rules from 1st ed.

I had a question regarding Two Weapon Fighting in 2nd Ed.

Basically, it says there are advantages and disadvantages to this technique, but i can't see any disadvantages on the surface level ...

It seems (seeing as shields are 'weapons' in the offhand) that there is no reason why you would ever not use something in your off hand while fighting.  Unless of course if you have 2handed weapon or simply can't afford a second item ;)

But basically, you can continue to fight as normal using your main weapon, but you get a free parry each round because of your off hand item!  I get this is a cool advantage, but the rules don't really bring up a disadvantage... nothing to say it might be a harder technique or impedes agility/movement or anything ...

please help me, I might just be blind or simply have missed something in the rules!  Is it simply that you should be rolling with a 2H weapon, or dual wielding, but no in-between? ...  there is no advantage to just using a sword in one hand for example

i guess there is more encumbrance ..but meh

Any notes on the dual wielding thing would be great! let me know what you think!

Grim Tidings

Hey there

check out this cool upcoming retroboot of old school WFRP style gaming.  Grim and Perilous.

Hopefully will bring the old dark style into the new age of mechanics.  Hope to get involved with art or submissions at some point - will keep an eye on the development!

Been Busy

Hey there dice throwers

It's been ages since ive updated my blog - I have been busy moving with the fam again, and also some exciting new illustration work for Paizo Publishing (i know it wont be WFRP directly related, but will post some fantasy character work when i can).

I have some new content in the works, and hopefully it turns out OK, so hope to get back to some more posts soon.

Lost in The Chaos Wastes...

Long time no post.  Things have been busy at work, and Ive recently moved house which of course has taken up a lot of time!  Once the new games room is setup though, I plan to get into some more scenario writing and playing, with my new board setup and minatures and new paper craft scenery from Dave's Games - good stuff.  My wife has rolled a couple of characters, and I am planning an opening adventure to introduce the characters and get them off to an intriguing start...

I will post pics from a gaming session and maybe do some post adventure write ups.

Adventure Feedback

I was thinking - if anyone out there has tried or intends to try any of my scenarios, could they write up a comment in the scenario page about their experience with it?  It would be great to know how people are playing the adventures, what worked and what didn't - and any fun stories of adventure that can only occur with your own group ;)

I write stuff the way I like to GM it, and with a certain play group in mind, so sometimes it is hard to tell if a scenario works for others.

Miniatures

I've found that even for my RPG games, that some of the minis designed for WFB and LOTR SBG are really cool. For example, one box of Empire free company militia will have you sorted for any thugs, footpads, citizens, sailors, bandits, coachmen, inn patrons, and even PCs if you paint one well enough - its a bout the best value pack of models you'll buy! Some of the hero models are quite cool too!

Another quick way to fill up a cavern with greenskins is to buy the LOTR Moria goblin sets. Cool looking gobbos, I like them more than WFB, they are less cartoony. Other enemies which are fought quite a lot are beastmen, best to buy a box of plastic WFB beastmen or Gor units than individually picking through metal figurines one by one...

In a way, buy one box of the ‘fellowship’ and that is most RPG parties right there! Good ol' archetypes!

what I'm getting at is that there are some box sets of cheaper plastic minis out there now which could satisfy most of your needs with just a few purchases.

And remember..zombies and undead are just all your spare models, with some arms and stuff cut off and painted to look like ghosts :D lol

...what models do you use?
